MEDICAL MALPRACTICE

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE

We represent a range of clients operating in the healthcare sphere. Our clients include major hospital groups, smaller private hospitals, healthcare professionals and allied healthcare professionals.

We regularly represent healthcare professionals (doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, physiotherapists, dieticians, etc.) at the Health Professions Council of South Africa. We also represent nurses at the nursing council and pharmacists at the pharmacy council.

We recently successfully defended a pharmacist in respect of an alleged dispensing error where our client’s exposure was R7 million.

We were retained by Life Esidimeni (Pty) Ltd to advise in respect the investigation into the death of 144 Mental Healthcare Users (MHCU’s) during the ill-fated Gauteng Health Department Termination of its contract and transfer of the MHCU’s to the 27 non-governmental organizations.

The announcement of the combined death inquest into the death of the 144 MHCU’s to be held before a judge has resulted in us being retained to advise and assist the employees and former employees of Life Esidimeni (Pty) Ltd.

Our team advises on litigious and non-litigious matters and we represent not only the healthcare professionals, but also their insurers and advise on clinical and health law issues.

We have acted for hospitals and professionals in Botswana, Ireland and England.
